ABSTRACT

Objective:To carry out the clinical observation and research of OPT intense pulsed light combined parameters in the treatment of lip hairiness. Methods:A total of 94 female patients with lip hairiness who were treated with OPT intense pulsed light depilation were collected, of which 22 were treated with single parameter and 72 were treated with combined parameters, both once a month for 7 months. The treatment effects of the two groups were compared. From October 2013 to October 2019, the patients were collected from the Department of Medical Cosmetology, the Quzhou Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University. Results:With the increase of treatment times, the curative effect of patients gradually appeared, and the χ 2 value was 10.87 in the single parameter group and 105.25 in the combined parameter group. The difference was statistically significant ( P<0.05). There was no statistical significance in the single parameter array between the two comparisons of different treatment times; there was statistical significance in the combined parameter group. The χ 2 value of treatment (1 vs. 3) times was 26.05, (1 vs. 7) times was 73.3, (3 vs. 7) times was 23.82 ( P<0.017). There was significant difference in the constituent ratio and total effective rate between the two groups after 3 and 7 times of treatment. The total effective rate of 3 times of treatment was 36.36% in single parameter group and 70.83% in combined parameter group; The total effective rate of 7 times of treatment was 59.09% in the single parameter group and 81.94% in the combined parameter group ( P<0.05). Conclusions:Combined parameters OPT intense pulsed light therapy has better effect on lip hairiness than single parameter, and the treatment is safe and has good clinical application value.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To compare the clinical efficacy and patient satisfaction of 755 nm semiconductor laser for hair removal during different stages of auricular reconstruction.@*Methods@#From July 2016 to September 2018, 86 patients who had ear reconstruction underwent 755 nm semiconductor laser for auricle hair removal in plastic surgery department of Tongji hospital affiliated to Tongji medical college of Huazhong university of science and technology. There were 39 males and 47 females with an average age 12 years old(from 6 to 28 years old). 28 cases were left ear, 58 cases were right ear. With random grouping, 40 patients underwent auricle hair removal treatment after posterior ear tissue expander implantation (post-operation of stage Ⅰ depilation group) and 46 patients underwent treatment after auricular reconstruction (post-operation of stage Ⅱ depilation group). Auricle hair removal treatments(pulse width 10-20 ms, wave length 755 nm, spot size 10 mm×15 mm, energy density 4-8 J/cm2) were respectively started at different intervention time. Each treatment time were 5-10 minutes. The end of the treatment was slight redness or edema of the local hairy follicle. The treatment was repeated every 4 weeks with a total of 5 times. The number of adverse reactions was recorded as while as the hair density, hair clearance rate and patient satisfaction before treatment and 6 months after the 5th depilation.@*Results@#Patients in both groups successfully were completed the treatment and were followed up to about 6 months (23 to 25 weeks) after the last depilation treatment. There were only 2 cases with scratch in skin preparation and 2 cases with blisters in the postoperative of stage Ⅱ group. None of the other patients had adverse reactions. Hair density after treatment (27.63±7.75 bar/cm2) was less than before treatment (84.55±13.68 bar/cm2) in post-operation of stage Ⅰ depilation group. Hair density after treatment was 40.52±5.92 bar/cm2 in post-operation of stage Ⅱ depilation group, less than before treatment (74.78±11.19 bar/cm2). The differences were statistically significant (both P<0.001). After hair removal, the hair density of post-treatment in the post-operation of stage Ⅰ depilation group was less than the post-operation of stage Ⅱ depilation group. The difference was statistically significant (P=0.000). The hair clearance rate of the post-operation of stage Ⅰ (67.32%) was higher than the post-operation of stage Ⅱ(45.81%). The difference was statistically significant (P<0.001). Patients’ satisfaction was 87.5% in the post-operation of stage Ⅰ and 69.5% in the post-operation of stage Ⅱ. The former was superior to the latter.@*Conclusions@#Auricle hair removal with semiconductor 755 nm laserstarted at stage Ⅰ that posterior ear tissue expander was implanted has more favorable clinical efficacy, and higher patient’s satisfaction rate.

ABSTRACT

Abstract Purpose To evaluate the preferences of women and men regarding female pubic hair depilation and identify possible reasons for these preferences. Methods This is a cross-sectional study of men and women over 18 years old who were invited by the official blog of our institution to respond anonymously to an online and self-administered questionnairemade by the researchers. The analyses weremade using the Statistical Analysis System (SAS, SAS Inc., Cary, NC, US) software, version 9.3, and contingency tables were used to verify the distribution of variables. The univariate statistical analysis was performed using the Pearson chi-squared test, and the differences for values of p < 0.05 were considered significant. Results We obtained data from 69,920 subjects (52,787 women and 17,133 men). Themean age was 31.9 years formen, and 28.5 years for women. Most women (64.3%) and men (62.2%) preferred complete removal of female pubic hair, and this preference wasmore pronounced in younger women andmen. Most women reported performing depilation at home (55.8%), with 44.4% using hot wax and 40.1% using a razor blade. About half of the women (44.7%) and men (50.1%) reported sexual activity, having intercourse 2 to 3 times per week. The frequency of intercourse and sexual satisfaction in women correlated with total pubic hair removal. Conclusion Most Brazilian women and men prefer the complete removal of female pubic hair, especially those who are younger andmore sexually active.Women who are satisfied with the appearance of their own genitalia have a stronger preference for complete removal of pubic hair.

Resumo Objetivos Avaliar a preferência de mulheres e homens emrelação à depilação genital feminina, e identificar possíveis razões envolvidas nessa preferência.

ABSTRACT

Background: Preparation for surgery has traditionally included the routine removal of body hair from the intended surgical wound site. Hair is removed as its presence can interfere with the exposure of the incision and subsequent wound, the suturing of the incision and the application of adhesive drapes and wound dressings. Hair is also perceived to be associated with a lack of cleanliness and hair removal is thought to reduce the risk of surgical site infections (SSIs). SSIs are experienced by around 10% of patients in the UK each year and can result in delayed wound healing, increased hospital stays, unnecessary pain and in extreme cases the death of the patient. Three methods of hair removal are currently used: shaving, clipping and chemical depilation. When a surgical operation is to be conducted through a hair bearing part of the body, hair removal is often performed. Aims & Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the relationship of two methods (shaving and depilation cream) of preoperative hair removal to adequacy of hair removal, skin injury and reaction during hair removal, postoperative wound infection in a developing country where razor shaving is very popular. Material and Methods: Consecutive consenting patients scheduled to have such operations were randomized into two groups. One group had hair removal by shaving with a razor blade while the other had hair removed by depilatory cream. Adequacy of hair removal and presence of skin injuries and/or reactions were noted preoperatively. Details of the procedures were recorded and patients were then assessed for postoperative wound infection. Results: A total 215 patients were studied. Of the 103 patients who had hair removal by depilatory cream, hair was completely removed in 93 (91%) compared to 69 (62%) of the 112 patients who had razor hair shaving. Skin injuries were noted in 32 (29%) of the razor group and 4 (4%) of patients who had depilatory cream. 18 patients (8%) had postoperative wound infection including 3 (3%) in the depilatory cream group and 15 (13%) of the razor group. A significant association was found between preoperative skin injuries and postoperative wound infections. Conclusion: Preoperative hair removal with razor shaving predisposes to skin injuries which in turn significantly influence postoperative wound infection rates. Such injuries and resultant wound infection are fewer when depilatory cream is used for hair removal.

ABSTRACT

For twelve years,we have used liquid nitrogen in the treatment of Ota nevus (nevus fusco-caerule-us ophthalmomajillaris).Compared with the dry ice treatment, this method has the following adventages:(1) its very low temprature has a significant therapeutic effect and the number of treatment can be reduced to only half of what is needed in dry he treatment;(2) no apparent scar is left after treatment and depigmentation is rare. This method is also very effective for severe nevi that can not be cured by dry ice.Dermabrasion is used to remove melanosome of the epidermis and to facilitate the out-flow of exudate, therefore it is carried out at first superficially. At the same time,a special depi-lation needle with its half length covered by a silicone rubber sheath is used to destroy the remaining melanocytes under the skin. The skin impression taken after operation with dental synthetic rubber impression material shows the same skin furrows as those bf normal skin. This method is very effective in the treatment of Ota nevus.
